There's no turning back now. My entry has been sent, my registration paid…..time to start planning.
A lot goes into preparation for an event such as this, from the training program, to nutrition, injury prevention, and body maintenance!
I’ve prepared my training program with the assistance of a running coach, looking at gradually increasing the km’s. I’ve also ensured that I get enough rest and recovery. The program officially starts on Nov 16th. It includes 5-6 runs a week, with a combination of long easy runs, tempo runs and interval runs. It is also important to maintain my strength with a couple of weight training sessions, and to also help with muscle recovery I’ll be doing at least 1 yoga session a week.
As well as the training, looking after my body is vitally important. I will be seeing a myotherapist at least fortnightly, then weekly closer to the day. I will definitely be getting chiropractic adjustments at least 1-2 per week, and will be seeing a naturopath to ensure I maintain optimal nutrition to sustain the demand on my body!
As I start to look at what’s required for this race, the anticipation begins!!
233 days to go!
